Maroc Telecom And Inwi Join Forces To Enhance Morocco's Digital Infrastructure And 5G Deployment

Maroc Telecom (IAM) and Inwi (Wana Corporate) have unveiled an expanded partnership to boost fibre optic and 5G technology deployment in Morocco. This collaboration involves forming two joint ventures, each equally owned by the companies, to enhance fibre optic networks and support 5G development. The initiative aims to strengthen Morocco's digital infrastructure and improve connectivity across the nation.

The agreement includes creating "FiberCo," which will focus on expanding fibre optic networks to achieve 1 million connections within two years and 3 million within five years. Additionally, "TowerCo" will oversee constructing 2,000 new towers in three years and 6,000 in ten years to facilitate the rollout of 5G services. This first phase of the project is valued at AED4.4 billion over three years, pending approval from Morocco's National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT).

Jassem Alzaabi, Chairman of e&, highlighted the strategic collaboration between Maroc Telecom and Inwi as a significant step towards market stability. He noted that joint investments in fibre and 5G infrastructure would bolster Morocco’s position as an attractive investment destination. Alzaabi praised the country's efforts to create a balanced regulatory environment that supports growth in the telecom sector.

Engineer Hatem Dowidar, Group CEO of e&, expressed pride in witnessing a new phase of market stability in Morocco. He emphasised the importance of a balanced regulatory landscape for fostering innovation and growth in digital and telecom sectors. Dowidar reiterated the group's commitment to advancing investments in fibre and 5G infrastructure to enhance digital infrastructure and support e-government services.

Alzaabi stated that e& prioritises compliance with local and international regulations as a core ethical responsibility. He acknowledged the government's initiatives to develop the telecom sector and committed to long-term investment in Morocco. The focus will be on expanding digital infrastructure, promoting digital inclusion, and enabling various economic sectors to benefit from technological advancements.

Dowidar added that the strategic collaboration between Maroc Telecom and Inwi reflects institutional maturity. He stressed that true partnerships are built on legal integrity and public interest, motivating efforts to improve infrastructure while building a comprehensive digital model supporting Morocco’s digital transformation.
