Mansour Bin Zayed Inspects Advanced Technologies At National Centre Of Meteorology For Climate Readiness
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, recently visited the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) headquarters. Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director-General of the Centre and President of the World Meteorological Organisation, welcomed him alongside other senior officials.
During his visit, Sheikh Mansour explored various sections of the NCM. He was briefed on their advanced infrastructure and modern meteorological technologies. The tour included the Operations Centre, weather forecasting units, cloud seeding systems, marine monitoring units, and renewable energy weather forecasting sections.
Sheikh Mansour received a detailed explanation about numerical weather prediction systems. These systems utilise a state-of-the-art supercomputer for climate data analysis. This technology enhances forecasting accuracy and improves early warning readiness across the region.
The NCM's Media Affairs Unit was also part of Sheikh Mansour's visit. Here, he learned about digital applications developed by the NCM to serve local and international communities. These services include direct alert systems during weather events and interactive maps providing real-time weather information.
Sheikh Mansour was informed about the "Early Warning for All" platform. Developed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this platform offers accurate alerts to UAE citizens abroad during extreme weather conditions. It aims to ensure safety and enhance national and international coordination in climate risk management.
The Science Dome at NCM was another highlight of Sheikh Mansour's visit. This educational platform raises environmental awareness among students and the public. Interactive presentations and workshops offered by the Dome aim to build climate literacy and inspire interest in environmental sciences.
