Mansour Bin Zayed Approves 74 New Economic Activities To Enhance Farming In Abu Dhabi
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, has enacted Decision No. (5) of 2025. This decision amends previous regulations concerning economic activities on farms in Abu Dhabi. The amendment introduces 74 new activities, increasing the total to 145 approved economic practices on farms.
The newly sanctioned activities span various sectors. There are 41 activities related to plant production and nine that support plant production. Additionally, eight food support services and 12 industrial support activities have been introduced. Two general support services and two recreational activities are also included.

Article (1) of the decision modifies Clause 2 of Article (5) from Decision No. (3) of 2023. It now states that the built-up area for economic activities must align with limits set by the competent authority in the emirate. Clause 3 of Article (5) is also updated to allow farm owners or licensed establishments in Abu Dhabi to engage in economic activities, provided they adhere to the farm's designated purpose.
Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of ADAFSA, highlighted the role of the Committee for Economic Activities on Farms. Formed under the Abu Dhabi Executive Office's guidance, it includes members from ADDED, DMT, and DCT Abu Dhabi. The committee aims to enhance farm utilisation and expand viable economic activities.
Al Ameri stated that this decision aligns with ADAFSA’s strategy to diversify farm-based economic activities. It supports food security by boosting local plant and animal production while promoting agri-tourism through recreational opportunities.
Coordination with Government Entities
ADAFSA collaborates with government bodies responsible for regulation and oversight to achieve these objectives in line with Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development vision. This cooperation ensures that farms become investment ventures offering educational, recreational, and heritage experiences that bolster tourism.
Al Ameri emphasised efforts by government entities to simplify procedures for regulation, licencing, classification, and inspection according to emirate legislation. These efforts aim to sustain achievements and support comprehensive development across sectors.
The decision reflects leadership support and forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen Abu Dhabi as a hub for agricultural innovation and economic growth.
