Mansoor Bin Mohammed Highlights Dubai's Role At GITEX Global 2024 For Digital Economy Growth
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, attended GITEX Global 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, held from 14-18 October, is recognised as the largest technology and startup gathering worldwide. This year’s edition saw over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from more than 180 countries.
Sheikh Mansoor highlighted GITEX GLOBAL's crucial role in uniting global tech leaders under the theme ‘Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy.’ He noted its importance in shaping technology's future and its positive impact on other industries. The event aligns with the UAE’s National Digital Economy Strategy and supports Dubai’s vision as a digital economy hub.

The event aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aiming to generate AED100 billion annually through digital transformation. Sheikh Mansoor praised GITEX GLOBAL for advancing His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of positioning Dubai as a key player in the global digital landscape.
During his visit, Sheikh Mansoor explored pavilions of major national entities like the Dubai Government, Abu Dhabi Government, UAE Cybersecurity Council, and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du). Other organisations included the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai and Fortinet.
This year saw a 40% increase in international participation compared to previous editions. Sheikh Mansoor remarked on the importance of collaboration with international partners to achieve strategic goals across sectors. He emphasised that technology is vital for future development.
On ‘Super AI Tuesday,’ over 3,500 companies showcased AI-powered services. More than 400 AI startups presented their innovations at GITEX Global. This highlights Dubai's commitment to fostering sustainable growth as a hub for new technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
Global Expansion Plans
GITEX Global is expanding its reach with events planned for Berlin, Singapore, Morocco, and Nigeria in 2025. These events aim to connect the global tech community and drive innovation across emerging technologies like AI.
Sheikh Mansoor expressed appreciation for initiatives by federal and local entities at GITEX GLOBAL 2024. He noted that advanced applications showcased reflect UAE’s leadership in digital transformation. This aligns with UAE leadership’s vision of using technology for efficient services.
He stated: "Our exemplary and productive collaboration with international partners will continue to be essential in achieving strategic developmental goals across various sectors, particularly in technology." He added that Dubai remains committed to fostering growth as a hub for new technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
