Mansoor Bin Mohammed Reviews Comprehensive Marine Traffic Management Plan For New Year Celebrations
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, recently visited the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation headquarters at Mina Rashid. The visit focused on reviewing the Dubai Maritime Authority's plan to manage marine traffic during New Year’s Eve celebrations. This plan is crucial due to the expected rise in marine activity during this period.
The meeting was attended by Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, along with Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime Authority. Other key figures included Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Omar Ali Salem Al Adidi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, and representatives from various security and emergency services.
The presentation highlighted strategies for managing increased marine traffic during New Year’s Eve. With a rise in foreign yachts visiting Dubai, there has been a significant increase in permits issued. The plan includes demarcating marine routes, regulating mooring areas, and monitoring congestion points to ensure smooth navigation on this busy night.
Sheikh Mansoor was informed about procedures to facilitate foreign yacht entry for leisure and tourism. This involves coordination between the Dubai Maritime Authority, Dubai Customs, and other security entities. Such collaboration ensures efficient vessel arrival and departure processes while maintaining compliance with regulations.
Sheikh Mansoor emphasised that effective preparation and coordination among various entities are vital for managing major events according to top organisational standards. This approach ensures safety for both people and property while boosting confidence in Dubai's marine traffic management system.
He stressed the need for ongoing development of operational plans and strengthening inter-agency cooperation to keep up with maritime sector growth. This effort reinforces Dubai’s reputation for safety and innovation in marine management.
Dubai's Global Leadership
Sheikh Dr. Saeed stated that Dubai continues to lead as a hub for safe maritime activities. The New Year’s Eve 2026 marine traffic plan aims to efficiently manage this global event with strategic partners like Dubai Police and Ambulance Services. The goal is to prevent maritime incidents despite increased vessel numbers.
Past experiences have been documented to improve future operations manuals. This enhances readiness and strengthens Dubai’s position as a secure global destination for major events and visiting yachts.
The integration of approved tourist marinas into this framework has improved their readiness by ensuring they register and track vessel movements electronically. This system supports seamless operations during peak times like New Year’s Eve.
