Mansoor Bin Mohammed Reviews Advanced Security Measures By Dubai Customs At Jebel Ali Port
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, recently assessed the efforts of Dubai Customs in enhancing port security and combating smuggling at Jebel Ali Port. The visit included a review of the smart inspection ecosystem, which is bolstered by advanced artificial intelligence technologies. These efforts reflect Dubai's commitment to safeguarding the community and preventing illegal material smuggling.
During the visit, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor was informed about the operational capabilities of sophisticated inspection devices. Notably, these include the 'gantry' container-scanning system and a radiation-monitoring network. These systems are among the most advanced globally for detecting radioactive and prohibited materials due to their high penetration capability across containers, vehicles, and heavy equipment.
The tour also highlighted the efficiency of Dubai Customs’ Customs Inspection Division. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor reviewed monitoring mechanisms, inspection methods, and field procedures designed to detect suspicious activities. These measures enhance customs teams' readiness and ability to swiftly respond to security risks related to smuggling and illicit trade.
The visit underscored Jebel Ali Port's significance as a leading logistics hub with rapid growth in cargo volumes and international trade. The briefing emphasised Dubai Customs' role in applying global best practices in container inspection while balancing security requirements with efficient operations.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor praised the advanced benchmarks achieved by Dubai Customs' inspection ecosystem. He commended their integrated efforts in employing modern technology and strengthening coordination with relevant authorities. These initiatives enhance Dubai’s capacity to proactively address security challenges and ensure preparedness against smuggling and illegal trade.
Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director-General of Dubai Customs, affirmed that they continue to reinforce Dubai’s position as a safe global trade hub by developing national talent and driving innovation. This aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 while ensuring sustainable border and port security.
Role of National Talent
Dr. Busenad highlighted the strong support from the Dubai Border Security Council in strengthening the emirate’s security ecosystem. He praised seamless cooperation between local, federal, and international entities in combating various types of smuggling.
He added that Dubai Customs inspectors serve as the first line of defence in protecting society by preventing narcotics, weapons, explosives, counterfeit goods, and restricted materials from entering through an integrated security system adhering to global standards.
