Mansoor Bin Mohammed Honours Winners Of Seventh Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup In Dubai
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), crowned the winners of the seventh Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup at Shabab Al Ahli Club from 1–2 June. The event showcased impressive performances from leading local clubs and academies, with Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club excelling in the Under-14 and Under-18 categories.
The awards ceremony saw attendance from notable figures including Lieutenant-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Board Member of Shabab Al Ahli Club; Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE and Asian jiu-jitsu federations.

Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club topped the podium in the Under-14 category, followed by Sharjah Self-Defence and Shabab Al Ahli in second and third places, respectively. In the Under-16 category, Sharjah Self-Defence clinched the title, with Baniyas securing second place and Al Ain in third. Al Ain continued their dominance in the Under-18 category, surpassing Baniyas and Al Jazira.
In the Adults division, Al Wahda emerged victorious, with Al Ain and Baniyas taking second and third places, respectively. The competition attracted hundreds of athletes from over 20 clubs and academies nationwide.
Youssef Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, congratulated the winners: "The seventh edition of the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup was a massive success. The outstanding performances highlight both the Federation and clubs’ dedication to nurturing the next generation of jiu-jitsu stars."
Al Batran also expressed gratitude to UAE leadership for their visionary guidance and support for athletes. He thanked H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed for honouring the winners on Sunday.
Reactions from Clubs
Ahmed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of Al Ain Sports Club, expressed delight at winning the U14 and U18 titles: "This victory validates our strategy to develop young talent and enhance their competitive edge on the mat."
Saeed Al Qubaisi, an Al Ain Club athlete who won gold in the U14 44 kg category, shared his joy: "Winning this gold medal fills me with immense pride. The competition was tough, but support from my club and coaches fuelled my determination to succeed."
Abdullah Al Darmaki, who clinched gold in the U18 94kg category, echoed similar sentiments: "This victory in such a prestigious tournament is indescribable. The effort and sacrifices were all worth it."
Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club's Success
Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club’s Board of Directors, dedicated their win to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. He praised their young athletes for their outstanding performance: "Today’s result is a testament to their hard work and sustained efforts."
Hamdan Mohammed Al-Najjar of Sharjah Self-Defence who won a gold medal in the 48 kg category said: "I am extremely grateful to secure the gold medal and help the team win the U16 title. This achievement reflects my hard work and dedication."
Al Wahda's Triumph
Obaid Muftah Al Mahrezi, President of Al Wahda Sports Company, commented on their success: "Our heroes were up to the challenge, winning the title in the Adult division for the second consecutive year. Their determination was clear in every fight."
Muhammad Al-Suwaidi, an Al Wahda athlete who won gold in the adult 69kg category added: "Today we achieved our long-standing aspiration thanks to our utmost efforts. Competing in various tournaments has significantly improved our skills."
