Mansoor Bin Mohammed Recognises Emirati Athletes As Inspiring Role Models For Future Generations

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, highlighted 2025 as a landmark year for the UAE's Olympic movement. He noted that record-breaking performances and significant achievements would inspire future generations of athletes to excel while representing the nation at major sporting events worldwide.

During a meeting at the UAE National Olympic Committee headquarters in Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor praised the dedication and remarkable performances of UAE athletes. He emphasised their commitment and pride in raising the UAE flag high on international podiums. The meeting was attended by Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Vice President of the UAE NOC, along with other board members.

The year witnessed exceptional performances by Emirati athletes at three major international events. At the 3rd GCC Beach Games in Muscat, they secured 23 medals, marking their best-ever performance. This success continued at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, where they won 31 medals and set several records.

The UAE athletes also excelled at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia, winning 27 medals. This achievement surpassed their previous performances across five editions of the event. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor expressed his best wishes for continued success in regional and international competitions.

The meeting approved several proposals, including forming a Values and Ethics Committee chaired by Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi and appointing Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa as Vice Chairman. A new UAE Olympic Solidarity Committee was also established under Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa's leadership.

Amal Hassan Bu Shlakh was appointed Chair of the Gender Equality Committee, while Ibrahim Al Asam Al Zaabi was named Chair of the Media Committee. The Board approved technical and administrative reports for 2025 and outlined plans for 2026.

Financial Approvals and Future Plans

The Board approved financial regulations, final accounts for 2025, and an estimated budget for 2026. They also endorsed participation budgets aligned with the Olympic Activity Plan for 2026. The meeting reviewed outcomes from recent sporting events like the Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025.

The Board discussed hosting the first GCC Conference on Sports Law and Management next May. They reviewed regulatory frameworks for sports federation elections proposed by the Gulf Cooperation Council's General Secretariat.

New Logo and Commemorative Moments

The meeting concluded with approval of a new logo reflecting the Committee’s visual identity. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor posed for a commemorative photograph with members of the national badminton team, who recently triumphed at the AirBadminton World Cup organised by Sharjah Sports Council.
