Mansoor Bin Mohammed Assumes Presidency Of UAE National Olympic Committee For 2024–2028 Term

The UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) has elected H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as its President for the 2024–2028 term. This decision was made during the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting in Dubai, adhering to the NOC's statutes and electoral rules. Sheikh Mansoor chaired this meeting, which included key figures like Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi and Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor expressed that leading national institutions is both an honour and a significant responsibility. He acknowledged the trust placed in him by national sports figures who have tirelessly advanced the Olympic movement in the UAE. Their dedication has been crucial in achieving sporting success without seeking recognition.

The vision of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during his 16-year presidency significantly influenced the achievements of the national Olympic movement. His leadership established a lasting legacy, enhancing the UAE's global sporting reputation. Sheikh Mansoor praised all former NOC presidents since 1979 for laying a strong foundation for continuous growth.

Notable milestones include winning the first Olympic medal at Athens 2004, with Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Hasher Al Maktoum securing gold in shooting. The UAE also hosted the SportAccord International Convention in 2010 and celebrated Omar Al Marzooqi's silver medal in show jumping at the 2018 Youth Olympics.

The meeting approved several key documents, including the NOC’s technical and administrative report for 2024, strategic vision, and Olympic activity plan for 2024–2028. These approvals highlight the NOC’s commitment to supporting international sports events and promoting values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

The Assembly ratified financial documents such as final accounts for 2024, a proposed budget for 2025, and audit reports. Additionally, they approved budgets related to preparation and participation in Olympic events under the 2025 activity plan.

Amendments to the Olympic Charter

Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa presented recent amendments to the Olympic Charter adopted on January 30th. These changes are significant for participation processes, qualification pathways, and hosting rights of Olympic Games. They also expand National Olympic Committees' roles in host city selection decisions.

Sheikh Mansoor emphasised that sustaining success requires collective efforts from all stakeholders involved in Olympic affairs. Providing athletes with necessary support ensures they excel globally while maintaining UAE’s legacy of sporting excellence.

The meeting concluded with an agreement signing to host national sports federations' headquarters at new NOC premises in Dubai. This facility will accommodate 21 federations representing various individual and team sports.
