Mansoor Bin Mohammed Chairs Meeting To Enhance Inclusion And Empowerment For People Of Determination In Dubai
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People of Determination, led a meeting with members from the Community Development Authority in Dubai and representatives from various government bodies. The gathering focused on reviewing initiatives to bolster Dubai's status as a leader in inclusion and empowerment for People of Determination through an integrated approach.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor stressed Dubai's dedication to supporting People of Determination by overcoming challenges and creating opportunities for their active societal participation. This aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 2033. He emphasised efforts to build an inclusive society that meets educational, professional, social, and service expectations, helping individuals realise their potential.
The launch of the ‘Dubai Speaks Sign Language’ initiative was approved by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor during the meeting. This makes Dubai one of the first cities globally to offer sign language across all smart and digital services. The initiative aims to enhance social inclusion by enabling People of Determination with hearing impairments to access services and train staff in basic sign language.
Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority, stated that this meeting is a pivotal milestone in enhancing government integration and delivering comprehensive services for People of Determination. It aligns with Dubai’s leadership vision to maintain its status as a global model for inclusion and quality of life.
The committee reviewed plans by the Community Development Authority to develop a unified database for People of Determination. This database aims to improve data accuracy and accessibility for future policymaking. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor directed swift implementation to strengthen empowerment, social inclusion, service planning, and evaluation of related initiatives.
The meeting coincided with the 7th edition of the AccessAbilities Expo at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It highlighted the Committee’s role in implementing leadership’s vision and advancing efforts to enhance quality of life and promote equal opportunities for all society members.
Government Initiatives Highlighted
Various government entities showcased key initiatives during the meeting. Dubai Municipality presented ‘Wusool,’ an accessibility service assessing building accessibility in Dubai. The Government Human Resources Department highlighted efforts to boost employment and vocational training, while RTA spotlighted ongoing initiatives for inclusive mobility across the emirate.
The next phase will focus on standardising data and services with entities like the Dubai Health Authority. New initiatives will be launched to boost employment, training, and workforce participation for People of Determination.
The meeting underscored that Dubai seeks to be a global model for empowering People of Determination, highlighting their role as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
