Mansoor Bin Mohammed Chairs Dubai Sports Council Meeting To Discuss Strategic Growth In Sports Sector
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), led a meeting with the Council’s Board of Directors. Attendees included Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman; Ali Al Mutawa, Ahmed Al Khaja, Ismail Al Hashemi, Dr. Abdullah Al Karam; and Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor highlighted Dubai's sports sector's readiness for sustained success due to leadership support and strategic partnerships.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor reviewed the progress on the Council’s new strategic plan during the meeting. This plan is being developed based on insights from the recent Dubai Sports Retreat and a thorough analysis of the sports sector's current status and future potential. He emphasised presenting this plan to stakeholders from both public and private sectors to encourage their active involvement in achieving its goals.
The strategic plan aims to further develop Dubai’s sports sector and enhance its global leadership position. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor stated that plans should reflect Dubai’s status and achievements globally. He stressed moving forward with determination to realise the vision of making Dubai a leading global sports destination.
Expressing satisfaction with current progress, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor noted that Dubai leads in various competitiveness indicators across economic, tourism, cultural, educational, and quality-of-life sectors. He asserted that the sports sector must also advance to mirror Dubai’s global standing in these fields.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor approved renaming the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Sports Award. This change reflects its expanding global role in advancing sports and honouring champions across diverse disciplines.
The award will now be part of the Global Sports Summit scheduled for December 2025. The summit will gather elite athletes, experts, and decision-makers worldwide to discuss collaboration for shaping a better future for global sports.
Upcoming Events and Community Engagement
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor reviewed DSC’s preparations for organising the Global Sports Summit from 29th to 30th December as directed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event aims to be a truly global gathering highlighting collaboration's importance in shaping future sports landscapes.
The Board also discussed strong community engagement in designing Dubai’s new sports identity and updates on major upcoming sporting events hosted by the emirate. Preparations are underway to ensure successful organisation of these events.
The meeting underscored Dubai's commitment to fostering growth in its sports sector through strategic initiatives and international collaborations while maintaining its reputation as a premier global sports hub.
