Mandatory Implementation Of Infrastructure Projects Code Begins In Riyadh To Enhance Quality And Safety

The Riyadh Infrastructure Projects Center has initiated the mandatory enforcement of the Infrastructure Projects Code starting Thursday. This code acts as a comprehensive guide for infrastructure projects, offering standardized regulatory and technical guidelines for government bodies, utility service providers, contractors, consultants, and quality control labs.

The code is applicable to both public and private sector projects throughout the Riyadh Region. It covers major developments in the capital city, governorates, and rural areas. Its primary aim is to enhance inter-agency coordination, unify standards, and improve implementation quality and safety.

Infrastructure Projects Code Launches in Riyadh

The code provides stakeholders with access to essential technical and regulatory requirements for planning, coordinating, executing, and overseeing infrastructure works. These works span telecommunications, energy, water, sanitation, roads, and other sectors. The code addresses all project lifecycle stages from planning to site closure.

It includes regulations on safety barriers, licensing, execution quality, site cleanliness, signage and information boards. Additionally, it covers dust and waste control while ensuring accessibility to homes and public facilities. The aim is to improve work quality and compliance levels while enhancing on-site conditions.

The code mandates contractors to provide safe pedestrian pathways and coordinate traffic movement. They must secure project sites around the clock with standardized identification signage and warning lighting. Daily site cleaning and regular permit updates are also required.

Since its initial advisory phase rollout, over 25 workshops have been conducted by the Riyadh Infrastructure Projects Center. These sessions introduced the code’s framework and highlighted key standards to ensure effective application. The goal is to reinforce collaboration toward improving quality of life.

Workshops Promote Effective Application

The workshops aimed at reinforcing collaboration among stakeholders to achieve objectives such as enhancing the urban environment and optimizing expenditure on infrastructure projects. The code seeks to facilitate project execution without disrupting daily life for residents.

By addressing all stages of a project's lifecycle—from planning permits to final site closure—the code aims to streamline processes across various sectors like telecommunications and energy. This ensures that projects are executed smoothly without compromising safety or quality standards.

The Infrastructure Projects Code is designed not only to enhance work quality but also compliance levels across all involved parties. It ensures that residents' safety remains a priority while facilitating seamless project execution within urban environments.
