Malaffi Achieves 3.5 Billion Clinical Records, Advancing Healthcare In Abu Dhabi
Malaffi, a pioneering Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform in the region, has achieved a significant milestone. It now holds 3.5 billion clinical records, covering 12.7 million patient profiles across Abu Dhabi. This development is part of the UAE's efforts to enhance precision and preventive care. Malaffi is operated by M42’s Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (ADHDS) under the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH).
With connections to almost all healthcare facilities in the Emirate, including hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, Malaffi supports 53,476 authorised users. These users include doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals across 3,072 healthcare facilities in Abu Dhabi. The platform's reach underscores its importance in the local healthcare landscape.

Malaffi's recent upgrades have expanded its capabilities significantly. The platform now includes over 160,000 M42 Pharmacogenomics Reports. These reports provide personalised insights into patients' genetic responses to medications, helping optimise treatment plans. Such advancements are crucial for delivering tailored healthcare solutions.
Additionally, new diagnostic test results are available across key specialities like Mental Health, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, and Respiratory Diagnostics. These enhancements offer clinicians deeper insights into patient care. The availability of such detailed information aids in elevating the quality of healthcare services provided.
The platform also features a Radiology Image Exchange that allows access to radiology images from over 60 facilities for all authorised clinical users. This feature streamlines workflows and enhances decision-making processes for healthcare providers. Furthermore, an AI-powered Patient Risk Profile predicts risks for chronic conditions and acute events.
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the DoH, stated that accessing 3.5 billion medical records marks a pivotal milestone for Malaffi. She emphasised that this reflects the DoH’s commitment to creating an intelligent and patient-centric healthcare system powered by innovative solutions like pharmacogenomics and predictive analytics.
Collaborative Efforts Drive Success
Kareem Shaheen, CEO of M42’s Digital Health Solutions platform, highlighted that this achievement is a testament to the collaborative efforts within Abu Dhabi’s healthcare ecosystem and the visionary leadership of the DoH. He noted that Malaffi aligns with M42’s mission to advance innovation in health by securely connecting critical patient information with clinicians.
With its vast database of clinical records now connected through Malaffi, Abu Dhabi's healthcare ecosystem is significantly enhanced. This robust foundation supports research initiatives ranging from AI-driven analytics to advanced treatments. The platform plays a vital role in improving healthcare standards and outcomes across the region.
