Maktoum Bin Mohammed Engages With Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister To Enhance Bilateral Relations
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, recently met Nguyen Hoa Binh, Vietnam's Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, at the Ruler’s Court in Dubai. This meeting highlights the robust and growing relationship between the UAE and Vietnam. Their ties have significantly expanded across various sectors over recent years.
The UAE and Vietnam have been strengthening their cooperation since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993. The two nations have worked together in areas that benefit both countries and their citizens. In 2024, they elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, which has opened new opportunities for collaboration.
Vietnam is the UAE’s largest non-oil trading partner within ASEAN. In the first half of 2025, non-oil trade between the two countries reached US$7.02 billion. This figure marks a 16.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Such growth underscores the importance of their economic partnership.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum expressed the UAE's eagerness to enhance its relationship with Vietnam further. He emphasized that both nations share a vision focused on progress, prosperity, and sustainable development. The UAE aims to build on the momentum from their Comprehensive Partnership to explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The discussions between the leaders covered ways to deepen ties in various sectors such as trade, tourism, financial services, and investment. Both sides are keen on expanding cooperation to benefit not only their countries but also the broader region.
The meeting was attended by several key figures from Dubai's leadership. These included H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence; Mohammed Al Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness The Dubai Ruler’s Court; Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai; Helal Almarri, Director-General of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; and Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC.
This gathering reflects a shared commitment to fostering stronger bilateral relations between the UAE and Vietnam. Both nations are poised to continue building on their achievements and exploring new avenues for collaboration in diverse fields.
