Maktoum Bin Mohammed Chairs Meeting To Enhance Dubai's Judicial Council Initiatives

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, recently led a meeting of the Council. This gathering is part of his ongoing efforts to review judicial initiatives in Dubai that aim to maintain integrity, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law.

The meeting was attended by key figures including Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of H.H. The Dubai Ruler's Court and Vice Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council; Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai; Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts; Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Judicial Council; and other members.

Maktoum bin Mohammed Leads Dubai Judicial Council Meeting

During this session at his office, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum approved the appointment of new judges at Dubai Courts. He also endorsed the 2025 training and development plan for judicial authority members. This plan underscores his dedication to equipping judges and public prosecutors with essential skills and knowledge, especially focusing on young professionals in this crucial field that supports social progress and stability.

Moreover, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum sanctioned procedures to extend service for judicial authority members who have reached retirement age. This decision allows the judiciary to continue benefiting from their expertise while retaining exceptional talents within its ranks.

The meeting also reviewed a statistical report from the Judicial Council’s General Secretariat. The report highlighted significant progress since its restructuring in 2021. Over four years, 223 studies were completed across research, legislative, and developmental areas.

Legislations related to the judiciary saw an 86 percent increase compared to the previous four years. This surge resulted in full legislative compliance. New systems introduced during this period led to more than a 100 percent rise in appointing judicial authority members.

Development Projects and Collaborations

The General Secretariat completed eight internal development projects and supported 17 projects with judicial entities' collaboration. These included initiatives like the Dubai Judicial Inspection Authority’s development project, establishing an Inheritance Court, and forming a Board of Commissioners for the Dubai Court of Cassation.

Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Sabousi expressed gratitude towards H.H. Sheikh Maktoum for his unwavering support and acknowledged the collaborative efforts with Council members. He stated that under H.H.'s guidance, they are committed to providing robust support to judicial entities while refining procedures and legislative frameworks.
