Maktoum Bin Mohammed Appoints New Members To Dubai Financial Services Authority’s Board Of Directors
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, and President of the Dubai International Financial Centre, has made a strategic move by appointing four new members to the Board of Directors of the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). This decision is set to leverage the diverse expertise of Robert Ophèle, Andrew Procter, Javan Herberg KC, and Sock Koong Chua, aiming to further enhance the financial sector in Dubai.
Sheikh Maktoum emphasized that these appointments are in line with Dubai's ambition to cement its status as a leading global financial and business hub. Robert Ophèle brings over 40 years of experience in the financial sector. His recent role as Chairman of the Autorité des Normes Comptables and his previous position as Chairman of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers highlight his significant contributions to financial regulation in France and Europe.
Andrew Procter, with more than three decades in legal and regulatory affairs, has been instrumental in shaping regulatory policy at both global and European levels. His extensive experience includes serving on various boards and committees related to banking and securities regulation.
Javan Herberg KC is recognized for his expertise in financial services regulation. Awarded King’s Counsel status for his contributions to law, Herberg has a rich background in dealing with regulatory authorities and financial institutions across multiple jurisdictions.
Sock Koong Chua is a prominent figure in Asia’s business landscape. As Senior Advisor at Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) and with her roles on several other boards including Prudential PLC, Chua brings a strategic perspective on telecommunications and finance.
