Makkah Route Initiative Streamlines Hajj Journey For Pilgrims Worldwide Since 2017

The Makkah Route Initiative, a significant part of Saudi Vision 2030, aims to simplify the Hajj journey for pilgrims. Managed by the Ministry of Interior under the Pilgrim Experience Program, it underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to serving visitors of the Two Holy Mosques. Since its inception in 2017, the initiative has rapidly expanded, benefiting over 940,657 pilgrims by 2024. This year, it operates in 11 airports across seven countries: Morocco, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Türkiye, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Côte d'Ivoire. The initiative's growth highlights its effectiveness in enhancing the Hajj experience through improved logistics and management.

Saudi teams stationed at international airports in participating countries manage all travel arrangements for pilgrims before they leave. These teams handle health checks, biometric data collection, electronic visa issuance, passport control completion, and luggage coding and sorting. This comprehensive service ensures that upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims face minimal waiting times.
