Makkah Region Bolsters Transport And Logistics Ahead Of Hajj Season 1445
The Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, chaired a meeting in Jeddah today. The meeting included Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and other officials. The agenda focused on reviewing the readiness of the transport and logistics system for this year's Hajj season, 1445 AH.
The system has allocated over 7,700 air flights and received around 6,000 pilgrims through Jeddah Islamic Port. Services have been set up to facilitate the movement of pilgrims from their arrival in Saudi Arabia until their safe return home. The meeting also discussed the transport system's role among enabling entities and its contribution to serving the pilgrims.

The readiness plan includes assigning 47,000 personnel to prepare six airports to receive pilgrims. Four national carriers will support the transport of pilgrims. Specialized halls for beneficiaries of the Makkah Route Initiative and those arriving from seven countries have been prepared. The system will provide 150 aircraft and 5,000 air flights with a one million-seat capacity for pilgrim transport.
New Initiatives and Services
Additionally, the system has introduced new initiatives and services for the Hajj season. During the meeting, the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services highlighted maintenance work on roads serving the pilgrims. Improvements have been made to roads leading to Makkah from land ports.
Road Projects
New road projects have also been completed, including a 50 km section of the Jeddah-Makkah direct road. These projects aim to facilitate pilgrim movement and shorten travel time between King Abdulaziz International Airport and Makkah.
Saudi Post Services
Saudi Post (SPL) is providing various services to pilgrims during the current season. These include commercial publishers, official mail, and pilgrims' parcel services such as Hajj without a bag. Bonds for the purchase of gifts and sacrifices are also available.
