Makkah Municipality Activates Ramadan Plan To Serve Visitors And Umrah Pilgrims
The Holy Makkah Municipality has launched an intensive Ramadan operational plan for the final ten days, as crowds of visitors, worshippers, and Umrah pilgrims increase around the Grand Mosque, focusing on cleanliness, environmental sanitation, and monitoring municipal services.
All available human teams and machines have been assigned to support this operational plan, so that services around the Grand Mosque, on main roads, and at key access points to Makkah remain continuous and stable during peak Ramadan periods.

The municipality has deployed 13,549 cleaning workers, backed by more than 912 pieces of equipment and modern machinery. Field teams conduct manual and mechanical sweeping in the central area, main streets, vehicle holding areas at city entrances, and public squares.
Pest control forms a major part of the Holy Makkah Municipality Ramadan operational plan services, with more than 520 technicians and specialists running insect control programmes, using over 396 spraying devices and equipped vehicles to support environmental sanitation and protect public health.
Inspection teams, working under the Holy Makkah Municipality Ramadan operational plan inspection and resources, are touring markets and seasonal stalls in Makkah’s neighbourhoods, checking compliance with health and regulatory rules to support food safety and maintain a clean environment for residents and visitors.
The municipality confirmed that this integrated approach, including field teams, inspection rounds, and sanitation activities, will continue throughout Ramadan, with particular attention to the last ten days and other peak times for Umrah pilgrims and worshippers.
Data from the Holy Makkah Municipality Ramadan operational plan inspection and resources shows that waste collected since the beginning of Ramadan has exceeded 126,365 tons, reflecting the high visitor numbers and the scale of cleaning and waste management operations across the holy city.
