Makkah Waste Management: Municipality Clears 266,235 Tons In December

The Holy Makkah Municipality reports that cleaning crews removed 266,235.7 tons of waste during December. The figure covers the entire city, with extra attention on the busy central area. Officials state the work supports cleaner streets, safer public spaces, and better services for residents and visitors in the holy city.

Data from the municipality show that 93,489.8 tons of the total were municipal waste. A further 172,745.9 tons came from construction and demolition activities. The scale of removal highlights daily pressure on infrastructure and the continuing need for organised waste management across all neighbourhoods in Makkah.

Makkah Clears 266k Tons of Waste in December

According to the municipality, field teams worked from 1 December to 31 December on planned campaigns. These operations included collecting mixed waste, street sweeping, road and pavement washing, and related maintenance. The activities formed part of a wider cleanliness programme designed to support the urban environment across the holy capital.

The Holy Makkah Municipality notes that cleaning and waste management services run around the clock. Crews follow detailed operational schedules to keep services continuous and stable. The authority says these actions support environmental sustainability, reduce visual pollution, and help maintain the appearance of streets and public areas throughout Makkah.
