Makkah Deputy Governor Reviews Key Projects For Hajj Pilgrimage Readiness
Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, conducted a field visit to assess the readiness of holy sites for the 1446 AH Hajj season. This visit was under the guidance of Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Makkah Region Governor.
During his tour, Prince Saud visited Arafat's Kidana Development Company’s Operations Control Center (OCC). Here, he examined how the center monitors water and electricity services. The OCC uses modern technology to detect issues in real time and alert field teams immediately, ensuring continuous operation and efficiency.

The deputy governor also inspected the heat stress mitigation project at Jabal Ar-Rahmah. This initiative covers 196,000 square meters and aims to cool the environment by using movable canopies for the first time at these sites. These canopies cover 1,200 square meters and are equipped with 129 misting fans to provide comfort for pilgrims.
In Muzdalifah, Prince Saud reviewed a project designed to offer rest areas for pilgrims. Covering 28,000 square meters along pathways, this project includes shaded seating areas with misting fans and commercial kiosks. Rubber flooring is also installed along pedestrian paths to facilitate movement and ensure safety.
The shuttle transport project in Arafat was another focus of Prince Saud's visit. This project aims to coordinate movement by ensuring connectivity between key points without interference between pilgrims and bus traffic. It involves defining design requirements for shuttle components and testing operations through simulations.
At Mina, Prince Saud concluded his tour at the Saudi Electricity Company’s (SEC's) load services center. He was briefed on SEC’s projects for this year’s Hajj season. These include five new electrical transmission stations, 228 new distribution stations, a 75% increase in electrical capacity, and 14 projects to enhance distribution networks.
Charitable Distribution Centers
The charitable distribution centers project was also reviewed by Prince Saud during his tour. Implemented by Kidana in Arafat and Muzdalifah, this initiative includes establishing 70 units to improve efficiency in charitable activities. It aims to ease distribution for service providers and enhance service quality for pilgrims during Hajj.
The deputy governor's comprehensive review ensures that all facilities are prepared for the upcoming pilgrimage season. His visits highlight efforts to improve infrastructure and services across holy sites, focusing on safety and comfort for pilgrims.
