Makkah Deputy Governor Reviews Preparations At Holy Sites For Upcoming Hajj Season
Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, recently inspected several key sites to ensure their readiness for the 1446 AH Hajj season. His visit was conducted under the guidance of Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of the Makkah Region.
The deputy governor began his tour in Arafat by visiting the Kidana Development Company’s Operations Control Center (OCC). Here, he examined how the center monitors water and electricity services, detects malfunctions in real time, and issues alerts to field teams. The use of modern technologies to enhance operational efficiency and response speed was also reviewed.

In Muzdalifah, Prince Saud assessed a project aimed at improving pilgrim comfort. This initiative covers 28,000 square meters along pathways with shaded seating areas equipped with misting fans and commercial kiosks. Rubber flooring is also installed along pedestrian paths to facilitate movement and ensure safety.
At Jabal Ar-Rahmah, Prince Saud evaluated a heat stress mitigation project covering 196,000 square meters. This project aims to cool the surroundings using movable canopies covering 1,200 square meters and equipped with 129 misting fans. These measures are designed to provide a more comfortable environment for pilgrims during their rituals.
The deputy governor also visited Mina to review projects by the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). He was briefed on SEC’s initiatives for this year’s Hajj season, which include five new electrical transmission stations and 228 new distribution stations. Additionally, there is a 75% increase in electrical capacity and implementation of 14 projects to enhance distribution networks.
Transport Coordination Efforts
Prince Saud continued his tour by examining a shuttle transport project in Arafat. This project aims to coordinate movement by ensuring connectivity between key points without interference between pilgrims and bus traffic. Design requirements for shuttle components are defined, and operations are tested through simulations.
The charitable distribution centers project was another focus during his visit. Implemented by Kidana in Arafat and Muzdalifah, this initiative includes establishing 70 dedicated units to improve efficiency. It aims to ease distribution for service providers and enhance service quality for pilgrims during the Hajj season.
The comprehensive inspection undertaken by Prince Saud highlights significant efforts made to ensure a smooth experience for pilgrims during Hajj. These projects reflect a commitment to improving infrastructure and services across holy sites.
