Makkah Deputy Governor Prince Saud Bin Mishaal Attends Closing Ceremony Of 45th King Abdulaziz Holy Quran Competition

The closing ceremony of the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran was held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz represented King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the event. Organised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, this competition highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting Quranic studies globally.

This year's competition saw participation from 179 contestants across 128 countries, marking its largest international involvement to date. The winners were honoured with prizes totalling SAR 4 million. Additionally, all participants received SAR 1 million collectively. This reflects the Kingdom’s dedication to promoting Quranic memorisation worldwide.

The ceremony commenced with recitations by contestants, followed by a visual presentation detailing the competition's history and objectives. The presentation also covered its development over the years. This event underscores Saudi Arabia's pioneering role in serving the Holy Quran and supporting its memorizers globally.

During the event, Prince Saud inaugurated the "Recited Mushaf of the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition Contestants." This initiative was produced by the ministry in collaboration with the Saudi Center for Quranic Recitations and Prophetic Hadith at the Saudi Broadcasting Authority. It aims to document and disseminate participants' recitations widely.

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh addressed attendees, expressing gratitude for the support from Saudi leadership. He emphasised that reciting and teaching the Holy Quran are among the noblest acts of worship. His speech highlighted how these efforts align with Saudi Arabia's vision for religious education.

Diverse Attendance

The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries including ministers, ambassadors from Arab and Islamic nations, government officials, security leaders, scholars, preachers, and mosque imams. Their presence underscored the significance of this event within both local and international communities.

Saudi Arabia continues to play a vital role in promoting Quranic education through such initiatives. By hosting events like this competition, it strengthens ties with Muslim communities worldwide while fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings among participants from various backgrounds.
