Makkah To Host 9th Islamic Affairs Conference Focused On Moderation

Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawa and Guidance will host a significant meeting. This gathering is in preparation for the ninth conference of ministers of awqaf and Islamic affairs in Islamic countries. The event will focus on promoting moderation principles, which is the central theme.

The conference will see participation from ministers of awqaf and Islamic affairs, muftis, and heads of Islamic councils from over 60 countries. They will discuss various topics across 10 working sessions. These sessions will cover the role of a renewed concept of religious address in promoting moderation values, confronting extremism, fanaticism, and terrorism.

Participants will also explore ways to immunize society against hate speech and extremism. Additionally, they will discuss spreading values of tolerance and coexistence and combating Islamophobia. The role of awqaf in boosting gross domestic product (GDP) and how endowment funds can aid development and investment will also be key topics.

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawa and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, who is also the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Conference, expressed his gratitude. He thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their significant interest in this conference.

This meeting aims to consolidate values that promote moderation within Islamic societies. It seeks to address pressing issues such as extremism and intolerance while fostering a culture of peace and understanding among diverse communities.

The discussions are expected to yield strategies that can be implemented across various countries to enhance societal harmony. By focusing on these critical areas, the conference aims to create a unified approach to tackling challenges faced by Islamic communities worldwide.
