Application Deadline For Emirates Tech Start-up Competition Now 5 May

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has recently announced an extension for applications to the "Make it in the Emirates (MIITE) Start-up Pitch Competition" until 5th May, 2024. This initiative is designed for local and international technology firms that are innovating in areas such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and decarbonization within the industrial sector. The competition aims to bolster these companies by showcasing their innovative solutions, facilitating networking opportunities with investors and financing institutions, and covering a wide range of industries including aviation, healthcare, automotive, electronics, energy, and more.

Launched in March 2024, the MIITE Start-up Pitch Competition is in search of high-potential, rapidly growing start-ups that are dedicated to minimizing the carbon footprint of the industry and endorsing sustainable practices. This aligns with the UAE's National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology and its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050. Participants stand to gain not only funding opportunities but also avenues for collaboration, mentorship, and a platform to present their pioneering innovations while engaging with key industry partners.

Emirates Start-up Deadline Extended

The competition is segmented into two main categories: additive manufacturing and decarbonization. The former welcomes start-ups focused on prototyping and 3D printing solutions applicable across various sectors such as aerospace and healthcare. Meanwhile, the decarbonization category is open to innovations in renewable energy, AI and digitization for decarbonization processes, along with carbon capture and storage solutions.

Scheduled to occur during the third Make it in the Emirates Forum on 27th and 28th May at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, the competition will assess applications based on criteria like innovation, market potential, and alignment with the competition's categories. Selected start-ups will have the chance to join an optional bootcamp led by industry experts and entrepreneurs aimed at honing their pitches and strategies. The top three winners from each category will be awarded monetary prizes and opportunities to collaborate on pilot projects with industrial partners.

This competition is a key component of the Make it in the Emirates initiative, which seeks to draw investors, industrialists, and innovators to the UAE. It promises significant participation from a diverse group of stakeholders including decision-makers from both government and private sectors, private companies, experts, entrepreneurs, financing entities, investors, start-ups, and SMEs. The initiative is supported by notable sponsors such as AIQ, VentureOne, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, and Hub 71, all contributing to the growth of start-ups and the advancement of technology within the energy sector.
