Majra Collaborates With Emirates Nature–WWF To Empower Youth In Environmental Sustainability Initiatives

The National CSR Fund, Majra, and Emirates Nature–WWF have formalised a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration aims to enhance environmental responsibility, aligning with the UAE's "Year of Community." It focuses on empowering youth and strengthening private sector roles in sustainable environmental efforts.

Majra will sponsor memberships for 500 Emirati youth under the Emirates Nature-WWF’s "Leaders of Change" programme. This initiative empowers individuals to take meaningful action for nature and climate. The programme offers training, innovation sessions, and conservation field trips, supporting the UAE’s priorities in biodiversity preservation and climate action.

Empowering Youth for Environmental Sustainability

Sara Shaw, CEO of Majra, expressed pride in partnering with Emirates Nature–WWF during the UAE’s Year of Community. She highlighted their commitment to advancing environmental corporate social responsibility by sponsoring 500 Emirati youth memberships. Shaw emphasised investing in a generation capable of turning knowledge into tangible actions that make a real difference.

Laila Mostafa Abdullatif, Director-General of Emirates Nature–WWF, stated their pride in partnering with Majra to advance a shared vision of an active civil society. She noted that over 10,000 individuals have contributed more than 37,000 volunteer hours through the Leaders of Change programme. This partnership enables hundreds more young people to engage in environmental action.

The MoU signing underscores the UAE's role as a regional hub for innovation in corporate social responsibility and sustainable impact. It highlights effective collaboration models between public, private sectors, and civil society. Corporate contributions are transformed into measurable environmental outcomes through these partnerships.

The "Leaders of Change" programme is a national platform launched by Emirates Nature–WWF. It empowers youth, professionals, families, and community leaders to take meaningful action for nature and climate. Participants engage in over 200 conservation experiences annually through workshops and citizen science activities.

Driving Systemic Change

This strategic partnership between Majra and Emirates Nature–WWF aims to foster systemic change by involving local communities and the private sector in sustainable initiatives. By focusing on cross-sector collaboration, they seek to achieve lasting impacts on environmental sustainability across various fields.

Since its inception, the "Leaders of Change" programme has engaged over 10,000 members who have contributed significantly to nature conservation efforts. They have recorded thousands of nature observations and restored natural habitats while developing eco trails for hiking across the UAE.

This collaboration highlights how innovative models between public sectors and civil society can deliver measurable environmental outcomes. It accelerates progress towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by nurturing environmentally conscious generations capable of driving tangible impacts.
