Madinah Municipality Expands Ramadan Cleaning And Sanitation Efforts Across City
Madinah Regional Municipality is stepping up field work during Ramadan, with intensive cleaning, sterilisation, and environmental sanitation operations across the city. The measures aim to protect public health, support environmental safety, and improve the urban landscape for residents and visitors.
As part of the Ramadan operational plan, teams are increasing surveillance of streets, public squares, and facilities. Field workers are tasked with tackling environmental violations, addressing visual pollution, and monitoring hygiene levels in crowded areas that receive higher visitor numbers during the holy month.

The municipality reported that 941 inspection tours have been carried out so far to assess environmental sanitation and cleaning. These tours focused on public locations, where inspectors recorded observations, followed up on issues, and ensured that corrective actions were taken when necessary.
Efforts also included removing abandoned vehicles from streets and public spaces. Authorities stated that clearing these vehicles helps reduce negative visual aspects, support traffic safety, and enhance the overall appearance of neighbourhoods and main roads in Madinah during Ramadan.
Health inspection teams played a central role in monitoring commercial food outlets. A total of 975 food samples were collected from various establishments. Laboratory checks found 912 samples safe for human consumption, while 63 samples were classified as unfit, triggering regulatory measures.
The municipality confirmed that legal procedures were applied to violators based on inspection results. Actions included documenting infringements, notifying establishments, and enforcing relevant regulations, in order to protect consumers and support food safety standards during the busy Ramadan season.
Sterilisation and disinfection campaigns covered 12,359 different sites around Madinah. Teams used 225 litres of disinfectants and pesticides. The operations targeted locations where people gather frequently, aiming to limit pest spread and support a cleaner and safer environment for worshippers and residents.
