Madinah Celebrates Global Unity With 12th Cultures And Peoples' Festival

Madinah Region Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz recently inaugurated the 12th edition of the Cultures and Peoples' Festival, a significant event organized by the Islamic University in Madinah. This festival, which runs until May 6, aims to foster communication, unity, and understanding among peoples from various backgrounds. During his visit to the pavilions of the participating countries, the governor explored the festival's objectives and its role in promoting teamwork, Islamic values, and enhancing dialogue for coexistence and peace among nations.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Hassan bin Abdulmunim Al-Oufi, Acting President of the Islamic University, emphasized the university's impact through its alumni. Over 100,000 students from more than 170 countries have graduated from this institution, contributing significantly to their societies and countries. The festival itself is a melting pot of cultures with students from 95 countries showcasing their unique customs and traditions. Dr. Al-Oufi highlighted, "The festival creates a harmonious and cooperative environment where the East and West unite on the university's premises."

Global Unity at Madinah Festival

The event spans over an area of 7,000 square meters and features representatives from different countries who present over 40 activities and events designed for families, children, and the wider community. The Cultures and Peoples’ Festival is not just a celebration of diversity but also an educational and cultural platform that offers enriching experiences for over 100,000 expected visitors. Among the wide array of events and activities are celebrations of Saudi Arabian coffee, Arabic poetry, cuisine, tea, and notably, the Year of the Camel 2024.

With entertainment, educational, and cultural corners set up throughout the festival grounds, visitors have the opportunity to engage in a variety of experiences that highlight the richness of global cultures. This initiative by the Islamic University in Madinah not only serves as a bridge between different cultures but also reinforces the values of dialogue, coexistence, and peace among nations.
