The inauguration of the Madinah Central Dates Market at the Food City project was a key event. The first phase covers over 37,000 square meters as part of municipal investment projects. This market is a significant step in organizing and developing the date sector, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's goals to diversify the national economy.

Madinah Governor Launches Central Dates Market

Madinah's unique advantage in date production is due to its diverse and high-quality varieties. This gives it a competitive edge both nationally and internationally. The new Central Dates Market provides a modern platform to support producers and farmers while expanding marketing opportunities.

The Food City project spans 1 million square meters, featuring central markets for vegetables, fruits, meat, and poultry, along with an integrated logistics system. It is strategically located at King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Road (Third Ring Road) and Ali bin Abi Talib Road intersection.

Prince Salman also inaugurated the "That Nakhal Forum for Premium Dates," gathering experts, specialists, farmers, and producers to exchange knowledge and showcase innovations in the date sector. During his visit, he explored "That Nakhal: History and Civilization" exhibition and museum, which highlights Madinah’s history through various displays.

Eng. Anas Sayrafi, board chairman of Al Madinah Logistics Services Company – the project developer – spoke about the project's significance in supporting the palm and date sector. He emphasized public-private partnerships' role in enhancing Madinah’s food ecosystem.

Infrastructure Expansion

The second phase of infrastructure work for the Central Dates Market was launched to expand facilities and improve operational services. Additionally, plans for establishing a Central Fruit and Vegetable Market within Food City were announced, reflecting ongoing development in Madinah's food sector.

As part of forum activities, Prince Salman honored winners of "TamraThon" hackathon organized by Taibah Valley Company. Sponsored by Al Madinah Logistics Services Company, this event celebrated innovators creating technical solutions for advancing the date sector.
