M42 Launches Jordan's First Digital Health Centre To Transform Healthcare Access And Delivery

Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (ADHDS), a part of the M42 group, has introduced Jordan's first Digital Health Centre, also known as a virtual hospital. This initiative links five remote hospitals to a central command centre in Alsalt, west-central Jordan. The project is part of a broader collaboration with G42's Presight, the Jordanian Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to enhance healthcare through digital transformation.

The initiative has already improved healthcare delivery by implementing three essential services: Tele-ICU, Tele-dialysis, and Tele-radiology. Diagnostic imaging reports that previously took up to 14 days are now completed in less than two days, reducing turnaround time by 86 percent. This efficiency demonstrates the potential for digital solutions to revolutionise healthcare access across the Kingdom.

M42 Unveils Digital Health Centre in Jordan

Through the Tele-ICU service, patient vital signs are streamed live to specialist teams in Alsalt city. AI-powered triage alerts help identify urgent cases, allowing for continuous monitoring without needing transfers to the capital. This technology ensures patients receive timely care and attention from specialists regardless of their location.

The tele-dialysis service has significantly expanded nephrologists' reach. Previously, six nephrologists had to travel extensively to serve 32 hospitals. Now they can provide virtual care to five times more patients without costly travel arrangements. This advancement highlights how digital health solutions can efficiently meet patient needs while reducing logistical challenges.

Eng. Sami Smeirat, Jordan's Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, stated that this centre is a strategic step in Jordan’s healthcare sector's digital transformation journey. It aligns with the Economic Modernisation Vision by supporting pioneering projects that drive innovation and progress in healthcare delivery.

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Budour, Jordan's Minister of Health, emphasised that the Jordan Digital Health Centre ensures high-quality care is accessible to every Jordanian at any time and place. This commitment to universal access underscores the importance of integrating technology into healthcare systems for better outcomes.

Public-Private Collaboration in Healthcare Innovation

Kareem Shahin, CEO of M42’s Digital Health Solutions platform, remarked on the significance of this development in improving access and meeting care needs efficiently. He noted that it opens new possibilities for comprehensive health services across Jordan, showcasing how public-private partnerships can drive meaningful change.

Dr. Adel AlSharji, COO at Presight, highlighted their mission to use applied AI for lifelong human advancement. He described the Jordan Digital Health Centre as a powerful expression of this mission in action, demonstrating how technology can transform healthcare delivery and improve lives.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in Jordan's journey towards digital health transformation. By leveraging technology and collaboration between public and private sectors, it sets a precedent for future innovations aimed at enhancing healthcare access and quality for all citizens.
