M42 And Bahrain Royal Medical Services Establish Strategic Alliance To Enhance Healthcare Access And Quality
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) is committed to establishing the Emirate as a leader in healthcare and organ transplantation. M42, formed by Mubadala Health and G42 Healthcare, has partnered with Bahrain's Royal Medical Services (RMS) to enhance healthcare quality across borders. This collaboration aims to improve access to advanced medical care and facilitate knowledge sharing between the two nations.
In this strategic alliance, M42 signed its first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RMS. The agreement focuses on providing world-class heart and lung transplant surgeries for patients in Bahrain. This initiative is part of the National Program for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation "Hayat," showcasing Abu Dhabi's expertise in organ transplantation supported by advanced infrastructure and skilled professionals.

The MoU was signed by Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Sheikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of RMS, and Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, M42 Managing Director and Group CEO, during the Arab Health Exhibition and Conferences. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of M42, will provide specialized services under this agreement.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi offers comprehensive transplantation services through its multi-organ transplant center. Since 2017, it has completed over 774 transplants, including 241 in 2024 alone. Recognized as a Centre of Excellence for Adult Cardiac Surgery by DoH, the hospital provides multidisciplinary care to patients from the region.
Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Sheikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa expressed pride in forming this strategic alliance with M42. He stated: "This partnership signifies a remarkable synergy between the Abu Dhabi Government and Bahrain, as we work together to enhance healthcare accessibility and outcomes for our communities."
Hasan Jasem Al Nowais highlighted the importance of this collaboration: "M42 is forming strategic collaborations to reshape the future of health and drive impactful global change." He emphasized that partnering with Bahrain’s RMS will provide life-saving transplant procedures and personalized care.

The partnership outlines a comprehensive approach to advancing medical education and research. It includes fellowship programs for clinical staff, advanced laboratory diagnostic services like genomics, joint research initiatives, and new technologies for improved care delivery.
