Boreas Thematic ETFs Make European Debut With AI Power, Luxury And Quantum Computing
Lunate, an Abu Dhabi-based global investment manager, has launched its Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs on Deutsche Börse Xetra, becoming the first provider from the region to list an ETF suite on a European exchange. The debut introduces multiple thematic and specialty strategies, giving international investors new access points to public markets shaped by fast‑moving structural trends.
The Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs is designed with varied risk and return profiles to address different investor preferences. Each ETF targets themes expected to influence long‑term economic growth, while the cross‑listing framework strengthens capital markets links between the Middle East and Europe. The platform aims to help investors build diversified portfolios focused on technology, infrastructure and lifestyle trends.

The first product in the Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs is the Boreas S&P AI Data, Power & Infrastructure UCITS ETF, which is beginning to trade on Xetra under the tickers POWR (EUR) and POWA (USD). This will be followed by the concurrent listing of the Boreas S&P Absolute Luxury UCITS ETF on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Xetra on 27th January 2026.
Lunate plans to expand the Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs further in Europe, with the Boreas Solactive Quantum Computing UCITS ETF and additional strategies scheduled for launch later in the year. These future products are intended to address specialised areas such as quantum computing, aligning with investor interest in technology‑driven themes and differentiated equity exposures.
Within the Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs, the Absolute Luxury ETF focuses exclusively on Europe’s luxury sector, offering targeted exposure to companies supported by heritage, craftsmanship and widely recognised brands. The product is designed for investors seeking to benefit from rising global wealth, as the worldwide millionaire population is projected to grow by almost 10 percent by 2029, supporting continued luxury demand.
The Absolute Luxury ETF in the Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs tracks the S&P Europe Luxury 35/20 Capped Index and will hold 32 companies, including Hermes, Ferrari, Burberry, LVMH, and Richemont. The total expense ratio is set at 49 basis points. UAE investors can subscribe through six Authorised Participants or via the ADX eIPO portal between 15th and 21st January 2026.
The Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs targets both traditional institutional investors and a newer generation of savers who invest through digital platforms. These investors are seeking transparent, liquid and cost‑efficient vehicles. Lunate manages the range, while Northwind provides exclusive consultancy on ETF strategy, including product development and research. Northwind is led by Geir Espeskog and Christopher Vass, who bring experience in thematic and index‑based investing.
Trading and distribution arrangements for the Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs involve several specialist firms. Jane Street, a global participant in ETF trading and market making, acts as the dedicated market maker for Lunate’s European‑listed ETFs. AHP Capital/NTree Deutschland serves as distributor, while Euroclear Bank functions as the international central securities depository, issuing and settling the European ETF share classes through its ICSD platform.

Our upcoming Absolute Luxury ETF capitalises on the significant growth in global wealth, which is creating a new wave of demand for luxury."
Explaining Northwind’s perspective on the Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs, Chief Executive Officer Geir Espeskog said, "Global innovation across technology, energy, and security is accelerating, creating one of the most compelling environments for thematic investing in decades. In parallel, research and development activity is expanding rapidly, with private companies now matching and often surpassing government investment in scale and impact. These forces are shaping the industries that will define the next generation of economic growth. We are proud to support Lunate in introducing a suite of resilient, forward-looking themes designed for investors seeking exposure to these transformative shifts."
The Boreas range of UCITS thematic ETFs positions Lunate as a regional first mover in the European ETF market, while deepening financial links between Abu Dhabi and European exchanges. With products spanning infrastructure, technology and luxury, and further strategies planned, the platform offers investors structured ways to gain exposure to specific long‑term themes through regulated UCITS vehicles.
