Louvre Abu Dhabi Hosts Official Launch Of DP World Tour Play-Offs Featuring Elite Golfers

With the DP World Tour Play-Offs set to return to the UAE for their second edition in less than a month, anticipation is building. Paul Waring, the reigning Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship winner, was present at the official launch event held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi to mark this countdown.

The launch event saw notable figures such as Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and General Abdullah Alhashmi, President of Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), in attendance. Daniel Van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer of DP World, and Richard Bunn, Chief Revenue and Content Officer of DP World Tour, were also present.

The golfing action kicks off with the 20th edition of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship from 6th to 9th November. The top 70 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings will vie for the prestigious Falcon Trophy. Following this, the field narrows to the top 50 players for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship from 13th to 16th November.

Aref Al Awani expressed enthusiasm about hosting these events: "We are delighted to welcome the world’s best golfers to Abu Dhabi and Dubai as part of the DP World Tour Play-Offs. The two events represent a platform that brings together elite golfers from around the world."

The inaugural Play-Offs last year were a major success, with course records broken at Yas Links and record crowds at Jumeirah Golf Estates. This year promises another thrilling showcase as global attention turns once more to the UAE's golfing scene.

General Abdullah Alhashmi highlighted their long-standing collaboration: "Having worked alongside the DP World Tour for more than 30 years, we are proud of what has been achieved during that time." He noted that last year's launch reflected trust in the UAE's ability to host such prestigious events.
