Local Honey Producers To Showcase Quality Varieties At Reef Valley Exhibition In Diriyah
In the heart of Saudi Arabia's agricultural landscape, local honey producers are gearing up for the "Reef Valley" exhibition in Diriyah. Scheduled for September 25-26, this two-day event is part of the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef). It aims to showcase Saudi Arabia's finest honey varieties, offering visitors a taste of the Kingdom's natural treasures.
The exhibition is not just about displaying products; it serves as a marketing platform. Honey producers will have the chance to promote their offerings to a diverse audience. Dedicated pavilions are expected to attract agricultural experts, businesses, and casual visitors. The event will highlight the superior quality and unique flavours of local honey, often surpassing imported varieties in taste and purity.

The Saudi Reef Program plays a crucial role in enhancing the honey sector by focusing on increasing local bee colonies and achieving self-sufficiency in honey production. Initiatives include establishing queen bee breeding stations and providing mobile clinics and laboratories to diagnose bee diseases. These efforts ensure industry growth while maintaining bee health.
Since its inception, the program has injected SAR140 million into the apiculture sector. This investment has boosted annual honey production to 3,120 tons last year. The goal is to increase this figure to 7,500 tons by 2026, further solidifying Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in high-quality honey production.
Held at the picturesque Diriyah Biennale, the Reef Valley exhibition promises to be a significant tourism and economic event. Alongside honey producers, farmers and agricultural businesses will also present their products. The event will feature activities that appeal to all ages, offering a vibrant mix of entertainment, culture, and learning experiences.
The exhibition underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to rural development and sustainable agriculture. It brings national and international attention to the unique flavours of local honey and highlights the Kingdom's dedication to preserving its agricultural heritage.
Supported by Reef Saudi, over 10,584 small producers have benefited from program initiatives. The program promotes modern beekeeping techniques among rural producers, ensuring sustainability and innovation within the industry.
This event is more than just an opportunity for showcasing outstanding products; it is a celebration of Saudi Arabia's rich agricultural tradition. Visitors can expect an engaging experience that combines culture with learning about the Kingdom's natural bounty.
