Llama 4 AI Model Enhances Access Across Middle East, North Africa, And Europe From Dammam

Groq, in partnership with Meta, has launched a new large language model in Saudi Arabia, using advanced infrastructure in Dammam. This initiative supports the Kingdom's ambition to boost its digital capabilities and become a key player in future technologies. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology highlighted this development as part of Saudi Arabia's strategic goals.

Earlier this year, Meta released its open-source AI models, Llama 4 Scout and Maverick, on GroqCloud in Saudi Arabia. These models provide developers with comprehensive access to cutting-edge open-source technology. Llama 4 now serves users across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, offering high-performance inference capabilities.

Llama 4 AI Model Launches in Dammam

This launch marks a significant step for Saudi Arabia in AI infrastructure development. The activation of the region's largest inference cluster in Dammam earlier this year further solidifies this position. Groq's Founder and CEO, Jonathan Ross, stated: "We built Groq to drive compute costs to zero, in collaboration with our partners. With Llama 4, we are delivering high-performance inference at unprecedented speed and minimal cost — without compromise."

Tariq Amin emphasized the importance of integrating Llama 4 with Groq's technology for Saudi Arabia's technological advancement. He noted that this integration represents a major leap forward for the country's journey toward technological leadership.

At LEAP 2025, Groq announced a $1.5 billion investment to establish the world's largest AI inference center in Saudi Arabia with Aramco Digital. This project aims to expand Groq's infrastructure and enhance GroqCloud services for developers. It will enable processing billions of tokens daily.

The introduction of these AI models is pivotal for Saudi Arabia's role as a leader in AI technology. By enhancing access to advanced AI tools across multiple regions, the Kingdom strengthens its position as a global hub for artificial intelligence.

This strategic move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to enhance its digital landscape and establish itself as a central figure in future technological advancements worldwide.
