9th Edition Of Liwa Ajman Dates And Honey Festival Set For July 2024

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) will launch the ninth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival. This prominent cultural event will take place at the Emirates Hospitality Hall in Ajman from 24th to 28th July, 2024.

Sheikh AbdulAziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of ADTD, emphasised the festival's role in showcasing the importance of palm trees and dates in Emirati culture. "The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival is a vital platform to highlight the significance of palm trees and dates in Emirati society, reflecting the importance of this product as a symbol of national identity and heritage values. Through this festival, we aim to promote the sustainability of the heritage and agricultural sectors in the country," he stated.

The festival aims to support farmers in Ajman and other emirates, as well as beekeepers, artisans, and local talents. It also reinforces efforts by the Culture and Arts Office of ADTD to integrate artistic and cultural elements into social and heritage events.

Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director-General of ADTD, highlighted the festival's economic benefits. "Through this festival, we aim to support the local community and stimulate economic activity in the region. We are committed to raising awareness and interest in local heritage and contributing to preserving the cultural values that represent the essence of our national identity," he said.

The traditional market will feature 56 varied shops, including farmers' markets and honey shops. Additionally, stores selling clothes and Ajman-themed souvenirs will be presented for the first time.

Diverse Activities

The festival will offer a diverse daily program with artistic performances, cultural activities, competitions, and workshops for all ages. These activities aim to enhance appreciation for palm trees as symbols of Emirati authenticity.

The event will also include three dedicated categories focusing on dates, citrus fruits, and honey. These categories are divided into northern emirates, other emirates, and Ajman itself.

Prize Pool

The total prize pool for the festival is approximately AED500,000. Awards range from AED7,000 for first place to AED3,000 for third place in each category.

The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival will welcome visitors daily from 10:00 to 23:00.
