Little Explorer Event Engages Young People With Saudi Arabia's Cultural Heritage

The Heritage Commission is hosting the "Little Explorer" event in Historic Jeddah from May 6 to 10. This initiative aims to educate children and young people about archaeological excavation and national cultural heritage. By blending entertainment with education, the event seeks to cultivate a generation that values antiquities and understands their role in reinforcing national identity.

Located in Bab Jadeed, the event is part of efforts to engage youth in heritage preservation. It offers educational activities that introduce archaeology principles and promote the importance of safeguarding archaeological sites. The event features five main pavilions, each serving as an educational and interactive station.

Engaging Youth with Saudi Heritage at Little Explorer

The journey begins with "The Little Explorer's Tale," an interactive cinema experience. This educational animation simulates an exploratory trip to the Al-Faw archaeological site, providing children with an engaging way to learn about cultural heritage. This immersive experience sets the tone for the rest of the event.

At the "Explorer's Academy" station, children can view genuine artifacts from various civilizations. They also learn about excavation tools used by archaeologists and understand how archaeological discoveries are handled. This station provides a comprehensive introduction to archaeology.

The "Excavation Simulation" station offers a practical experience where participants search for artifacts using real excavation tools in a sand-filled environment. This hands-on activity allows children to experience what it's like to be an archaeologist, making learning both fun and informative.

In the "Archaeological Workshop," children engage in creative drawing while learning about historical monuments using iPads. This interactive space encourages creativity while imparting knowledge about significant historical sites, blending technology with education effectively.

Combining Play with Learning

The "Play and Learn" area merges recreational games with archaeological themes. It provides a fun yet educational way for children to explore heritage sites, ensuring they enjoy themselves while gaining valuable insights into their cultural history.

This event exemplifies how entertainment can be combined with education to foster appreciation for national heritage among young people. By engaging them through interactive activities, it aims to instill a sense of responsibility towards preserving cultural treasures for future generations.
