Little Explorer Event Connects Young People To Saudi Arabia's Cultural Heritage Through Interactive Learning

The Heritage Commission is hosting the "Little Explorer" event in Historic Jeddah from May 6 to 10. This initiative aims to educate children and young people about archaeological excavation and connect them with Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage. By blending entertainment with education, the event seeks to cultivate an appreciation for antiquities and their significance in reinforcing national identity.

Five main pavilions serve as educational and interactive stations at the event. The journey begins with "The Little Explorer's Tale," an interactive cinema experience. Here, children watch an educational animation that simulates an exploratory trip to the Al-Faw archaeological site, making learning about cultural heritage engaging.

Engaging Youth with Saudi Arabia's Heritage

The "Explorer's Academy" station showcases authentic artifacts from various civilizations. Children learn about excavation tools used by archaeologists and the processes involved in handling archaeological finds. This hands-on approach helps them understand the intricacies of archaeology.

At the "Excavation Simulation" station, participants get a practical experience by searching for artifacts using real excavation tools in a sand-filled environment. This activity offers a realistic glimpse into the work of archaeologists, enhancing their understanding through direct involvement.

The "Archaeological Workshop" provides a creative space where children can draw while learning about historical monuments using iPads. This interactive setting encourages creativity while imparting knowledge about significant historical sites.

Combining Fun with Education

The "Play and Learn" area merges recreational games with archaeological themes, offering a fun yet educational way for children to explore heritage sites. This combination ensures that learning remains enjoyable while fostering curiosity about cultural heritage.

Located in Bab Jadeed, Historic Jeddah, this event is part of the Heritage Commission's broader efforts to engage young people in preserving national heritage. By offering educational activities that introduce archaeology principles, it promotes values of protecting and preserving archaeological sites among the younger generation.

This initiative not only educates but also inspires future generations to value their cultural roots. By participating in these activities, children develop a deeper connection with their national identity and learn the importance of safeguarding their rich heritage for future generations.
