Lippo De Carrere Wins Prestigious UAE President’s Cup For Purebred Arabians At Doncaster
Lippo De Carrere (Al Mourtajez x Elmanara De Carrere) showcased an impressive performance at Doncaster Racecourse, winning the UAE President’s Cup, UK Arabian Derby (Group 1 PA). This event, part of the St. Leger Festival, attracted nearly 30,000 spectators. The 2,000m turf race for four-year-old Purebred Arabians offered a £400,000 prize, making it the most lucrative Arabian race in Britain and Europe.
Trained by Alban de Mieulle and ridden by Mickaël Barzalona, Lippo De Carrere claimed his first Group 1 PA title by half a length with a time of 2:20:02. Previously finishing second in the French Arabian Derby this year, the colt now boasts four victories from seven starts. Wathnan Racing's Moneer (Al Mourtajez x Muneera), trained by Damien de Watrigant and ridden by Jean-Bernard Eyquem, secured second place. Al Shaqab Racing's Shaihaan (Al Mourtajez x Al Dowha), under trainer François Rohaut and jockey Tom Marquand, finished third.

The race was attended by notable figures including Aref Hamad Al Awani from the Higher Organising Committee of the UAE President’s Cup Series; Faisal Al Rahmani, Secretary-General of the Higher Organising Committee; Saud Badr Al Tonaiji from the UAE Embassy in London; and representatives from Wathnan Racing. Their presence highlighted the event's significance in promoting Arabian horse racing on a global scale.
Matar al Yabhouni Al Daheri, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of the UAE President’s Cup Series, praised the Doncaster race as a significant achievement for the Cup. He noted that it reinforced its international prestige and its role in supporting Arabian horse owners and breeders worldwide.
