Over 133,000 Lighting Units Enhance Visitor Experience At The Prophet's Mosque

The lighting system at the Prophet's Mosque in Saudi Arabia showcases the Kingdom's dedication to enhancing worshipper experiences. A total of 133,459 lighting units have been installed throughout the mosque, including its interiors, ceilings, and walls. These units come in various designs that complement the mosque's unique architectural style.

The lighting system comprises 30 types of harmoniously designed units in different sizes. This setup creates a distinctive atmosphere that enhances the mosque's architectural quality. It ensures uniform illumination throughout the mosque, its courtyards, and minarets. The General Authority for the Care of the Prophet's Mosque highlighted these efforts.

In addition to interior lighting, 307 large chandeliers have been installed in both the old structure and Saudi expansions. These chandeliers are geometrically aligned to match their surroundings while ensuring safety for worshippers and visitors. This alignment reflects careful planning and attention to detail.

Around 8,000 gilded lighting units adorn all columns within the mosque. These units reflect precision and harmony in design, spreading light effectively around the mosque. Moreover, 11,000 ceiling-mounted units featuring Allah's name extend across new expansions. These units use uniform colours to highlight architectural details while creating a visually comfortable environment for worshippers.

The lighting system incorporates technology that ensures efficient light distribution and supports energy conservation. It also reduces insect attraction to light sources. This technological integration demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and performance quality.
