L’Étape Dubai By Tour De France Announces Second Edition For January 2026 With Expanded Participation

The second edition of L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France is scheduled for 25th January 2026. Supported by Škoda and the Dubai Sports Council, this prestigious cycling event promises to draw more participants and offer an expanded weekend of activities. The inaugural event saw over 1,000 cyclists, including 243 international riders and 266 Emiratis, making it the largest first-edition amateur cycling event in the UAE.

Essa Sharif from the Dubai Sports Council expressed confidence in the upcoming event's success. He attributed this to Dubai's growing cycling culture and extensive tracks. "I am confident that the next edition will be even more successful, thanks to the heightened stature of cycling in Dubai and the availability of tracks extending hundreds of kilometers across the city. This is in addition to the increasing number of people practicing this wonderful sport, and the extensive experience of the Dubai Sports Council and the organising committee in hosting cycling races," he stated.

L’Étape Dubai Returns in January 2026

The 2026 edition aims to double participation to 2,000 cyclists across various categories. It also plans to host legendary former Tour de France riders, building on last year's participation of three former riders. The race will feature competitive courses of 101 km and 50 km, a family-friendly 20 km ride, and kids’ races through key city landmarks.

Fairouz Al Qazi, race director for L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France powered by Škoda, highlighted strong interest in early registration for the next edition. This reflects cycling's continued growth in the UAE. Antoine Quiers from A.S.O., organisers of the Tour de France, shared his enthusiasm for delivering an exceptional experience in L’Étape Dubai’s second edition.

The event's timing in January takes advantage of Dubai’s pleasant winter weather. This provides an ideal start to what is expected to be a busy season for international cycling events. Hosting such a race during this period offers a perfect opportunity for both local and international cyclists to enjoy optimal conditions.

Antoine Quiers acknowledged partners' contributions to last year's success. He expressed eagerness for another standout event with their continued support. "The collaboration with our partners has been instrumental in achieving success," he noted.

The organising committee looks forward to welcoming more participants while enhancing their experience with additional activities throughout the weekend. With increased interest from both local and international cyclists, L’Étape Dubai aims to solidify its status as a premier cycling event in the region.
