Latin America And Caribbean Leaders Discuss Future Strategic Priorities At World Governments Summit Dialogue

The partnership between the Dominican Republic and the World Governments Summit (WGS) is seen as a crucial link between Latin America and the UAE. President Luis Abinader highlighted that this collaboration enhances opportunities in innovation, trade, and governance. This cooperation aims to create a more competitive and prosperous region for both sides.

During the WGS Dialogue in Latin America and the Caribbean, President Abinader outlined his vision for positioning his country as a dynamic hub. He discussed future perspectives on economic, social, and technological development. The President emphasised tourism, trade, and innovation as key components of sustainable prosperity.

Strategic Priorities Discussed at WGS Dialogue

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the WGS, stated that the Summit serves as a global platform for dialogue. It aims to foster positive partnerships under the guidance of UAE leaders. Al Gergawi noted that Latin America and the Caribbean are essential for strengthening Global South dialogue amid today's rapid changes.

Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, participated in the WGS Dialogue, highlighting the importance of deepening ties between the UAE and Latin America. She stressed that advancing cooperation in innovation, culture, and economic diplomacy positions the Dialogue as a catalyst for stronger cross-regional partnerships.

The WGS Latin America and Caribbean Dialogue aimed to strengthen foresight-driven cross-border dialogue. It explored shared strategic priorities for the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Participants included billion-dollar companies, family-owned businesses, investors, government entities from across these regions.

The Dialogue featured sessions on governance models for 21st-century challenges. Discussions focused on enabling governments to adapt to technological disruptions and rising public expectations. Panels addressed agile governance and digital transformation to help governments remain leaders amid constant change.

Insights from Key Sessions

A session titled "Future Horizons" explored mechanisms to strengthen partnerships between Arab countries and Latin America & the Caribbean. Discussions centred on harnessing innovation to build competitive economies and accelerate digital transformation.

In another session called "South–South," participants discussed enabling Middle East, North Africa, Latin America, and Caribbean countries to strengthen interregional cooperation. They focused on turning regional integration into tangible results through trade, energy cooperation, digital innovation.

Focus on Economic Transformation

The session "The Next Big Shift" examined how Latin America's resources can be transformed into sustainable economic value through innovation. The panel discussed emerging opportunities across the region and in the GCC.

A dedicated dialogue session explored pathways to transform Latin America's economic trajectory over the next decade. Strategies were highlighted for building cross-border partnerships to drive sustainable growth.

Knowledge Partnership Agreement

The President of the Dominican Republic witnessed a knowledge partnership agreement signing between WGS and CAPP. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation between Middle East and Latin America by fostering inclusive dialogue.

The partnership will reinforce South-South cooperation by creating new opportunities for joint learning. It seeks to expand global impact through shared ideas and solutions.

Nine Catalysts Report Launch

In parallel with the Dialogue, WGS launched a report titled "Nine Catalysts for National Transformation." The report examines pressures facing governments worldwide amid climate disasters and cyberattacks.

This report outlines new governance models emerging globally. It presents nine catalysts for change that governments can adopt to accelerate transformation while strengthening public trust.
