Latifa Bint Mohammed Reviews Progress Of Al Quoz Creative Zone Development Project In Dubai
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, led a meeting to assess the progress of the Al Quoz Creative Zone Development Project. Since its inception in 2021, the zone has become a magnet for entrepreneurs and creatives, offering unique spaces and investment opportunities that bolster Dubai's cultural and creative sectors.
The Al Quoz Creative Zone has transformed from an industrial area into a vibrant hub for creativity and innovation. This shift aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming a global cultural centre and talent incubator. The project supports Dubai’s Creative Economy Strategy by fostering an environment where creatives can thrive.
Since April 2021, the creative zone has issued 3,527 new business licences, marking a five-fold increase in new and renewed licences. This activity has generated over 6,400 creative jobs. The zone has also hosted more than 215 events with over 82,000 participants, showcasing the work of 352 creatives.
Incentive packages worth AED68 million have been introduced to empower creative businesses. The zone aims to create an integrated ecosystem supporting cultural entrepreneurs through improved infrastructure and multi-use spaces for living and working.
The creative zone has completed several infrastructure projects to enhance its appeal. These include stormwater drainage networks, pedestrian paths, shaded rest areas, and improved mobility connections. An art bridge was also constructed to facilitate flexible mobility within the district.
Development Guidelines were established to ensure high-quality private-sector projects. These guidelines serve as a reference for land use and urban development, aligning with government-approved master plans.
Support for Creatives
The ‘Creatives’ Journey’ service was added to the Invest in Dubai platform to simplify establishing creative projects. This service makes the process more transparent and accessible for investors looking to engage in creative activities.
A series of initiatives were launched to support the creative community. These include interactive programmes like the Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Forum and Makers Month programme, which aim to develop artistic skills and enhance creative potential among participants.
Ongoing Projects
The zone is implementing projects that boost sustainability levels and improve quality of life. Notable efforts include enhancing irrigation systems and landscaping to elevate urban attractiveness. Safety standards are being addressed by finalising plans for high-risk activity plots.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa highlighted Dubai's strategic planning in strengthening cultural diversity while attracting global talent. "Inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum...the emirate has built a dynamic cultural ecosystem that enables creatives," she stated.
The Al Quoz Creative Zone continues to embody Dubai's ambitions by recognising culture as both a civilisational force and an economic contributor. It enriches global cultural dialogue while reinforcing its position as a leading hub for creativity.
