Latifa Bint Mohammed Opens Dubai Design Week 2025 With Global Designers And Innovative Projects
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, opened the 11th Dubai Design Week. This event is a key platform for design and creativity in the Middle East. In partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) and supported by Dubai Culture, it gathers over 1,000 designers from more than 50 countries, reinforcing Dubai's status as a global creative hub.
During the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikha Latifa was joined by Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Hala Badri, Director-General of Dubai Culture; and Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of d3. The event showcases a multidisciplinary programme that includes large-scale installations, new artworks, exhibitions, talks, and live activations across various design fields.
The festival features over 30 installations and 50 workshops alongside a market with more than 90 artisans. It provides creators with a vibrant platform to present their work to an international audience. H.H. Sheikha Latifa emphasised that Dubai Design Week is a dynamic space for inspiring ideas that advance the design sector.
She stated that art and design are crucial tools for providing innovative solutions and bridging cultures. "Dubai Design Week continues to be a platform where ideas transcend boundaries and creativity becomes a shared language of understanding," she said. The event reflects the belief that design is about solving challenges and connecting people.
The diverse programme offers visitors experiences exploring design's role in shaping the future. Highlights include Downtown Design, showcasing high-end contemporary designs with new collections and product innovations. The schedule also features pop-up concepts, regional showcases, and panel discussions.
The marketplace at Dubai Design Week is a lively venue for local businesses and independent designers from the UAE and beyond to display handcrafted products. With over 90 brands participating, visitors can explore homeware, jewellery, fashion, and sustainable lifestyle items.
A Celebration of Cultural Exchange
This year's edition integrates design with culinary concepts, children's activities, and live music to create a community space celebrating creativity and cultural exchange. The festival embodies Dubai’s vision as a city nurturing talent and encouraging experimentation while celebrating cross-cultural collaboration.
