Latifa Bint Mohammed Hosts Inaugural Music Majlis To Discuss Future Of UAE Music Industry

H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, recently hosted the inaugural Music Majlis. This event gathered artists, composers, producers, streaming platforms, and cultural leaders from Dubai and the UAE to discuss the music industry's future. The aim was to explore sustainable growth paths for the sector.

The Music Majlis served as a platform for open dialogue. Participants exchanged ideas on strengthening the music industry's infrastructure and elevating its global standing. They also discussed enhancing its role as a driving force in the creative economy. H.H. Sheikha Latifa stressed that this event marks the start of ongoing discussions between Dubai Culture and the music community.

H.H. Sheikha Latifa reaffirmed Dubai Culture’s commitment to supporting creatives at all levels – young, emerging, and established. The focus is on shaping policies that nurture growth, collaboration, and sustainability within the music industry.

She stated, "This was our first Music Majlis, but it will not be our last. Coming together allows us to understand the different voices that make up this sector, each with its own story, its own rhythm. When we listen, we grow. When we collaborate, we create lasting impact."

Empowering Young Musicians

The event highlighted how providing opportunities for young musicians helps build a legacy beyond current times. "When we give young musicians the right opportunities, we are not only supporting their dreams; we are building a legacy that will echo far beyond our time," H.H. Sheikha Latifa emphasised.

The majlis took place at The Originals in Al Quoz with participation from various entities like National Youth Orchestra Dubai, Qanawat, Steinway & Sons, Dubai Opera, Spotify, Music Nation, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Entertainment.

Senior officials from Dubai Culture joined leading experts and creatives from local and regional music industries at this gathering.

H.H. Sheikha Latifa added: "Music is a universal language that transcends borders and unites us through shared emotion and understanding. In Dubai, a city defined by its diversity, we have a unique opportunity to build an inclusive, innovative music scene that reflects who we are and who we aspire to be."
