Latifa Bint Mohammed Celebrates Winners Of The 9th Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award
The ninth edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award was celebrated under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event, attended by H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, highlighted the UAE's dedication to promoting Arabic as a cultural cornerstone. This initiative aligns with Sheikh Mohammed's vision to empower Arabic and enhance its global influence.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed expressed, "The Arabic language carries within it a timeless legacy of wisdom and beauty as the language of our past and the voice of our future. The Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award reflects our renewed commitment to safeguarding our invaluable heritage and ensuring it continues to flourish in an era of rapid technological and intellectual transformation. From Dubai, these initiatives serve as beacons that elevate global appreciation of the Arabic language, revealing it not only as a means of expression but as a bridge of culture, communication, and innovation."
Bilal Al Budoor, Secretary-General of the Award, noted significant international involvement this year. Entries came from 65 countries, showcasing a growing awareness of Arabic's role as a cultural bridge. This global participation underscores the Award's status as a platform for those committed to preserving Arabic and enhancing its role in shaping future knowledge societies.
The Education category saw the most submissions, highlighting the global emphasis on teaching and learning Arabic. Winners included Anisa Alif from the UAE for early education methods and Jordan's Faseeh Center for teaching non-native speakers. Abjadiyat from the UAE was recognised for school education initiatives.
The Technology category honoured Lebanon's Ataalam app for using social networking in learning Arabic. Palestine's Arabee Tools received recognition for developing digital content in Python and Java. In Media and Communication, UAE's Majarra app was awarded for excellence in electronic media.
In Linguistic Policy, Egypt won for translating 'Good Governance of Antimicrobial Use.' Oman's 'Student Behaviour Management Plays' was celebrated in Culture, Intellect, and Knowledge Society. The Arabian Days Festival in the UAE promoted reading culture. Spain's Adiba Romero Sánchez received the Distinguished Global Personality Award.
Encouraging Innovation Through Prizes
The Award distributes AED 2.8 million (US$770,000) among winners across various categories to foster innovation and competitiveness in Arabic-related projects. Since its inception, over 80 winners have been honoured globally, contributing to a thriving ecosystem supporting sustainable linguistic initiatives.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr emphasised that "The Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award embodies H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision to strengthen the Arabic language’s global presence. It serves as a strategic platform that promotes excellence and innovation in fields such as education, technology, media, and language policy."
