Sheikha Latifa Explores Sheikh Mohammed’s Literary Contributions At Abu Dhabi Book Fair

H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Member of the Executive Council, recently graced the 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair with her presence. Her visit to the pavilion dedicated to the publications of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was a highlight of the event. The pavilion displayed an array of His Highness's influential works, including notable titles such as ‘My Vision,’ ‘My Story,’ among others, drawing a significant number of visitors.

During her tour, Sheikha Latifa engaged with the organisers and expressed her views on the importance of culture and knowledge as pillars of progress and civilization. She emphasized the UAE's commitment to fostering a love for reading among the youth through national strategies and hosting key events like book fairs. "The UAE’s wise leadership prioritises culture, promotes knowledge, and fosters a love for reading among the youth through comprehensive national strategies and by hosting significant events like book fairs that draw hundreds of thousands of visitors annually," she remarked.

Latifa Tours Sheikh Mohammed’s Pavilion

Sheikha Latifa also highlighted the value of Sheikh Mohammed’s publications in inspiring leadership and personal growth. She pointed out that these works are not only a source of inspiration but also a legacy for future generations. The pavilion offered visitors insights into Sheikh Mohammed's diverse contributions across various fields.

In an engaging session at the children's book section, Sheikha Latifa read ‘Two Great Leaders’ to a group of young attendees. This book illustrates the lives and legacies of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in an accessible manner, underscoring their enduring impact on the UAE.

The 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, held from 29 April to 5 May 2024, was a melting pot of cultural exchange with 1,350 publishers from 90 countries participating. This year's fair saw Egypt as the Guest of Honour and celebrated Naguib Mahfouz as the 'Personality of Focus'. The event not only showcased a rich diversity of publications but also facilitated discussions on government operations, development, and cultural life influenced by Sheikh Mohammed’s writings.

The pavilion dedicated to Sheikh Mohammed’s works featured 13 titles that span a wide range of topics from management and leadership to personal experiences and historical insights. These sessions provided a platform for renowned authors and personalities to explore His Highness's vision and its impact on various spheres.

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair continues to serve as a significant cultural event, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. It plays a crucial role in promoting literacy, encouraging cultural exchange, and highlighting the UAE's commitment to becoming a leader in thought, creativity, and publication.
