Latifa Bint Mohammed Emphasises Role Of Cities As Cultural Incubators At Asia Pacific Cities Summit

H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, attended the Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum at Expo City Dubai. During her visit, she explored significant exhibitions and examined the latest global innovations in sustainable urban planning and resilient infrastructure.

Her Highness emphasised Dubai's dedication to creating smart, sustainable, and culturally vibrant cities. She stated: "Beyond serving as a platform for economic dialogue and urban planning, the global cities summit highlights cities as the world’s greatest incubators of culture and innovation – spaces where creativity flourishes, forward-thinking ideas emerge, cultures intersect, and humanity is enriched. Urban development reaches its fullest potential only when economic advancement is united with cultural and human development."

On the sidelines of the Summit, H.H. Sheikha Latifa met with Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo. They discussed enhancing cooperation between Dubai and Tokyo in development, creativity, and knowledge exchange. This meeting included key figures such as Hessa Buhumaid from the Community Development Authority in Dubai and Hala Badri from Dubai Culture.

The Japanese delegation featured Akira Sato from the Office of the Governor for Policy Planning and Atsushi Kuwabara, Special Advisor on International Affairs. Other senior officials were also present to explore opportunities for advancing relations between the two cities.

H.H. Sheikha Latifa toured several key showcases during her visit. These included stands by the Government of Dubai and Digital Dubai that highlighted initiatives aimed at improving quality of life through smart transformation. The Young Professionals’ Forum was another stop where she learned about strategies addressing urban challenges.

Additionally, she visited the Brisbane City stand to gain insights into international approaches to urban issues. These interactions underscored Dubai's commitment to adopting innovative solutions for sustainable urban development.
