UAE Hosts 20th Critical Care Conference To Explore Latest Medical Technologies

The 20th Emirates Critical Care Conference, alongside the inaugural World Summit of the World Federation of Intensive Care and Critical Care, commenced today, drawing the participation of over 2,000 medical and nursing professionals from 42 countries. This prestigious event, held in the UAE, also sees the collaboration of more than 45 scientific medical societies. The focus is on the exploration of the latest technologies in critical care, spanning artificial respiration and cutting-edge medications.

Dr. Hussain Nasser Al Rahma, a leading figure in emergency medicine and the conference's president, extended a warm welcome to the international delegates. He highlighted the significance of this year's conference, marking two decades since its inception in 2004. The event has grown to become a pivotal gathering for intensive care professionals worldwide, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and advancements in technology and research.

UAE's 20th Critical Care Tech Conference

The conference boasts an impressive lineup of 301 speakers, including 142 international experts, 69 regional authorities, and 90 local speakers. Over three days, attendees will be engaged in 310 lectures across 81 scientific sessions, complemented by 8 scientific workshops and 5 training courses. Additionally, the conference will showcase 87 pieces of scientific research from doctors and resident doctors and host 6 seminars for industry professionals. Dr. Al Rahma also mentioned that several significant agreements with international entities are expected to be signed during the event.

Key topics under discussion include blood poisoning, infection management, fluid therapy in intensive care units, acute kidney injury, artificial ventilation techniques, acute respiratory distress syndrome, surgery-related injuries, anesthesia and pain management, cardiology, nutrition in critical care, care for the elderly, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and infection control strategies.

Dr. George Helalgo, President of the International Society for Intensive Care, commended the conference's role as a cornerstone event in the Gulf region and the Middle East for showcasing innovations and scientific research in intensive care.

Dr. Amelia Lako from the World Health Organisation underscored the crucial role of nurses in critical care settings. She emphasized that nurses constitute over 70% of care teams in these departments, highlighting their indispensable contribution to patient care.

The conference also features an exhibition with participation from 40 leading companies in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry. This segment of the event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to explore the latest products and technologies that are shaping the future of critical care medicine.
