Sharjah Ruler Approves Largest Unified Government Media Hub To Enhance Media Infrastructure

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has sanctioned a series of significant media projects in Sharjah Media City "Shams". These initiatives aim to transform the media infrastructure in the emirate, creating an advanced model for integrating government entities under the Sharjah Media Council.

The newly approved projects include the creation of a comprehensive government media business complex. This facility will unite the Sharjah Media Council, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and media companies within "Shams" under one roof. The interactive environment will promote innovation and streamline production and broadcasting processes while improving government communication efficiency.

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, is leading efforts to unify government media work. He emphasised that these projects reflect the emirate’s vision for an advanced media sector rooted in innovation, international partnerships, and modern technologies.

The "Shams Studios" project is set to establish a state-of-the-art production environment in the region. It will feature five major studios ranging from 1,500 to 3,400 square metres. These facilities will cater to film, drama, and content creators with specialised post-production amenities like editing rooms and sound design studios.

The initiative also includes constructing a new building for the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. Equipped with modern technical infrastructure, this facility will enhance its capacity to deliver diverse, high-quality content that mirrors the Emirate’s identity and message. The first phase will feature administrative offices, a news building, and a sports channel building.

In addition to these developments, the "Shams Creative Oasis" will support Sharjah’s cultural scene by offering an advanced centre for artistic and educational events. It includes a theatre seating 700 people and facilities for community events and training programmes aimed at nurturing young talent.

Unified Government Media Hub

The project aims to create the largest unified government media hub in the UAE and regionally. It will consolidate media entities linked with the Government of Sharjah: the Sharjah Media Council, Government Media Bureau, Broadcasting Authority, and "Shams", which will serve as its new headquarters.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed stressed that investing in media equates to investing in people and identity. He stated that Sharjah is advancing towards enhancing its global cultural presence through responsible media practices and strategic partnerships supporting sustainable growth in this vital sector.

The complex will consist of four specialised buildings: one each for the Sharjah Media Council and Government Media Bureau; two for media entities within "Shams". Each building comprises a ground floor plus four additional floors dedicated to their respective functions.

This ambitious package of projects aligns with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi's vision for developing an innovative media sector in Sharjah. Supported by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi's leadership, these efforts aim to strengthen government coordination into a more impactful system.
